Parker nearly died. Hit by a car, dumped from a car, attacked by another animal ... we don't know what led to his lying on the side of a road in Barstow in early February, his jaw broken on both sides, bleeding and near death. But a good Samaritan found him and rushed him to the vet hospital where she worked. We just happened to check DMs when someone posted, asking if we knew of a rescue who could save him, as the local humane society didn't have the funds to do so. We got Parker turned over to us and asked the vet in Barstow to perform surgery on his jaw. When he was recovered enough to travel, we drove to Barstow and brought him back to Orange County. Four months later, Parker is completely recovered, and while his jaw will always be a bit crooked, he's able to eat and play with soft toys. He's a little shy -- who wouldn't be after ending up as he did? -- but quickly grows comfortable with new people and situations. We don't know about nine lives, but we know that Parker has at least two, and we're very grateful we were able to give him the chance for a better one.
