Oso's owners dropped him off at a shelter in Los Angeles County and told the staff he had been attacked by another dog in the family, resulting in Oso's left ear being torn. His "family" apparently sought no medical treatment, as the ear was infected and filled with bugs, necessitating its being amputated. So Oso is a little lop-sided, but we think that just gives him a distinctive, somewhat goofy look. He's a goofy boy, for sure. He's happy and easy-going, rides well in the car, and should be easy to train as he adores food and treats. He would not do well with cats. At this point we aren't sure about other dogs. He did well in the shelter's play yard with other dogs but lunges at them very excitedly on leash. We think he's a pretty special boy and will make someone a loving companion. Like all chows and chow mixes, he's aloof right now, but we think he'll warm right up once he realizes this is his new life.
